Skillset - I mostly work on solid state from the 70s - 90s and no tube gear as I do not haev the test equipment for them. I do not work on late model units where the service manuals are not available, or that are loaded with proprietary chips such as AVR's etc. I specialize in dbx, Nakamichi, TEAC (later models - not Vietnam era), Revox, Studer, NAD, Pioneer. I do not work on Sony or Akai R2R's because those units are becoming increasingly more difficult and time-consuming to repair.

I consider myself more of a restoration shop than service shop. I want units to functionally work and have audio performance as close to factory specs as possible. I don't take units in "that just need a belt". Those units will end up back on my bench for a recap, mechanical service, or calibration. I do everything at once with the best parts available - mechanical service, full recap, electrical calibration, and cleaning and polishing.

I'm a technician/ Engineer in the Clearwater area. Started as a technician in 75 when I was still in high school. I worked at "Donahue Radio" in Toronto Canada. They were as surprised at my Skills and put me on the bench within a week of starting. This was because of my interest in electronics started when I was in grade school. They thought I was a natural.
